Falafels

Tasty low fAnother dish you could leave the kids to finish making. These great little falafels are ideal for lunchboxes or late night snacks, as well as a starter or picnic food.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 400 gms - Can of Chick Peas, drained
  • 1 - Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 - cloves of Garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp - Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp - Ground Coriander
  • 2 tsp - Garam Massala
  • 1 tsp - Mild Chilli Powder
  • 2 tbsp - Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • ¼ tsp - Baking Powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Fry Light

Method

  1. If using dried Chick peas you'll need 227 gms:
    Put chick peas in a bowl, cover them with plenty of cold water and leave to sock for at least 48 hours. Drain the chick peas and then rinse well under cold running water.
  2. Put chick peas in a food processor with the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, garam massala, chilli and herbs. Process to a thick smooth paste.
  3. Add the baking powder and seasoning and stir well. Transfer to a bowl and chill in fridge for an hour.
  4. Take small pieces of the paste and form into small balls between your hands, then flatten out slightly.
  5. Arrange the Fafafel balls on a baking tray that has been sprayed with Fry light.
  6. Cook them in a preheated oven at 220°c 425°f GM 7. for about 12-15 minutes, until crisp and golden.
  7. Serve immediately.
